Psalm 124

Praise be to the Lord,
who has not let us be torn by their teeth.
7 We have escaped like a bird
out of the fowler’s snare;
the snare has been broken,
and we have escaped.
8 Our help is in the name of the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

    1. No many Scots claiming to be Christians, are familiar with the difference between licence and freedom.

      It is ironic , mainly because the Kirk was the prime mover in the eradication of illiteracy.

      Of course , the pro – literacy ” crusade” was initiated with the intention of encouraging Bible – study, which was formerly a Scottish domestic cultural pillar.

    I’m interested in your take on Kate Forbes’ statement last night on homosexuality. It seemed to me she made essentially the same misjudgement as Tim Farron by saying that homosexuality is not wrong. She may have mis-expressed herself in the heat of the moment. I hope so. Or perhaps I’m misreading her. At any rate, again I think she should stick to her initial frankness and argue the right to have different views in a pluralistic society. The question more or less stated that to think the behaviour of someone else is wrong is unacceptable moral superiority. This too needs to be called out. Mmmmm.

  2. So, is a person seeking to redirect (or to restrain) an undesired lust doing something inherently illogical and defiling? Yet a person seeking to deny their genotype and phenotype gender identity, well that’s just fine!!! What a strange, very strange, belief system!!!

  3. I watched the Chanel 4 News debate . It was rubbish , and unfair for all concerned . The questions were fired with such ferocity by Krishnan Guru- Murthy , the listener could barely understand the question , never mind the candidates. It made for a confusing and very unhelpful ” brochan” that was neither informative to the viewer / listener , that I wondered why the candidates agreed to taking part due to the time allotted .

    Ok, I,m old , but I have a vote ! It wasn’t a debate , it was more of a rapid fistfight of words which had me wondering , who said what ?

  4. “Ah now, if I could tell you the half of Scotland’s sins, you’d have missionaries working on it day and night.”

    Para Handy.

  5. A horrible letter on the Free Church is present today’s Church Times. Has Kate Forbes stirred up some strong emotions?
