Coffee and Colossians 27 – The Firstborn Over All Creation – with Rishi Sunak!
The “ Coronation” for me … and actually for all Spirit filled believers, was possibly the greatest evangelism witness opportunity we’ll see in our lifetime.
With God “all things are possible”, so rather than take a nuanced microscopic approach examining Theology doctrines and concepts, we need to harken to the words of Jesus: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never … “
So here’s the grander Coronation picture … Westminster Abbey packed with invitees … foreign dignitaries, celebrities, Royalty and regular folk … “plus” the 300 million TV viewers worldwide … a multitude of nationalities and faiths … all sitting silently transfixed … exposed to, and absorbing every word and verse of scripture, whether consciously or subconsciously.
So what a wonderfully powerful opportunity for the Church to rise up in Prayer, enforcing the authority and revelation of Jesus into this special occasion … into the hearts and minds of attendees and audience worldwide. What a mighty time for believers to rise up and pull down strongholds of prideful arrogance … of occultist New Age ideologies and philosophies … to trample them underfoot in the Name of Jesus. And to know that all this is happening live as we pray.
What a glorious occasion to transform lives … to change hearts … offer Salvation.
And to furthermore pray that the presence and revelation of Jesus would be manifest upon them all that night in dreams and visions as they slept; bringing about conviction and contriteness, leading to repentance and Salvation. Hallelujah!
Ps. … Rishi Sinak must have read Colossians 1:9-17 over and over beforehand to speak it so convincingly. Who is to say that that passage has not transformed his life. I am praying that it has.
So the Coronation for me was a glorious Holy Spirit filled time of Spiritual warfare, as the Name of Jesus as the Christ and the Word of God was extensively proclaimed.

Jesus also told the story of the good Samaratine,Charlie Three is not like this,nor will his ilk ever be,he and is side show broke al Christian,and other faiths charter,for a Mr Cairns to proclaim this farce as an Act of Christian faith,one wonders what veneer is he trying to proclaim?

I cannot why the thirst of some people to look for person,to put him on high,if we believe that the giver and the taker of life is;

We should all fear and respect Him.
The point I’m getting at is rather than sit there all “high & mighty” with a log in our eye … casting judgements; wouldn’t it be more pleasing to God to go into battle for the transformation and salvation of their souls… full spiritual warfare … for God Himself wishes that “none should perish”. We are called to enforce this victory through faith in the words we speak.
“Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”~ Mark 11:23-25

I’m wary of someone who writes about ‘sitting there high and mighty with a log in our eye’…it runs the danger of doing the very thing that you are getting at! Going into battle for the transformation and salvation of souls does involve ‘casting judgements’ – otherwise there could be no mention of sin – and therefore no need for a Saviour. It maybe is better that we do not lean on our own understanding and instead just follow what the Scriptures say….

I thought you might have also mentioned the invitation to the “Actually Gay Men’s Chorus” to be part of the Coronation Choir at Windsor Castle, or the implicit pantheism in the “Green Man” symbol on the invitation. Charles has repeatedly stated his desire to be “Defender of the Faiths” (pl). Not only was this indicated by the participation of non-Christian (and non-Protestant) faith leaders, as well as being implicit in the coronation prayer; The recognized faiths in the UK now include Druidism. An article on this in the Telegraph concluded that perhaps it’s time for a pagan king. A commendable concern for environmentalism can unwittingly lead (unguardedly) to that, or at least some form of pantheistic syncretism.
A “concern for environmentalism” (as distinct from responsible stewardship of the environment) is, usually, idolatry, a worship and service of the creature rather than the creator, a denial of the sovereignty of Christ who upholds all things by the word of his power. It has become the new religion followed by perhaps the majority, with the naive Charles an enthusiastic follower of this cult, and a cheerleader of hysterical false prophecies of imminent destruction.
Did Camilla possibly have unease written all over over her face and demeanour, during the key bit of the crowning ceremony? The old joke, about a sermon on the Ten Commandments, and a lost umbrella, might apply in this situation……..
It wasn’t just Camilla who committed adultery during the tragic marriage of the then Prince Charles and Lady Diana. The man who has just been crowned King Charles III of the UK is surely equally guilty – but the woman tends to get most of the blame and bear most of the reproach. I love Jesus’s method of dealing with the woman caught in adultery’s accusers – “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone”. That’s not to condone this couple’s or any other couple’s infidelity especially when they are famous and their actions have influence over society. Every blessing to you David – I learn a lot from listening to your common sense podcasts.

Indeed. I’m sorry I thought I had made that clear! The only problem with her becoming Queen is that she became Queen BECAUSE of her adultery – he was born to be King….In my view he should have stood down and let William be king…
I was going to write a very similar comment. In no way would I condone adultery but there were two people involved in that and there only seems to be a judgement on Camilla. Also, do we know that she’s unrepentant.
To me, this is a marvellous picture of grace. We, like her (and him) are sinners but, by invitation of the King, we get this amazing privilege of wearing robes and a crown we don’t deserve.
I don’t know if either of them has repented, that is between them and God, but I believe in a God of grace, forgiveness and second chances and we all need that.

A good analysis. Peter Hitchens wrote that for a few moments Zadok the Priest seems to find the heartbeat of the universe, which I thought was a good line, that and Parry’s I was Glad must surely be a high point in human culture, precisely because they’re a skilled attempt to point to the glory of God, not man.
As to what was happening during the anointing, Kings are annointed despite their moral failings, I think we have to hope that God did use the moment to speak to Charles. I don’t doubt that he took it all very seriously, he looked almost ashen.
In terms of Camilla, I felt you rather went after her for her adultery whilst letting Charles off the hook for the same crime! The real tragedy of course is that he didn’t/wasn’t able to marry her first time around, for which his parents and their advisers are to blame I understand. Not that that excuses their subsequent behaviour.
I’m not sure how I feel about Queen Camilla for the reasons you articulated, she was part of the reason, along with Charles for the misery Diana endured, (though she was not perfect) . But, Diana is now long dead, Camilla long divorced, pastorally, what else would you have had them do other than marry? And once married, she is to all intents and purposes his Queen.
Thanks Daniel…I’m sorry I gave the impression of letting him off the hook – I think he is more to blame! In my view he should have abdicated, like Edward – and let William take over. That would have shown real repentance!
William would have been about 10 when the Camilla revelations came out? He could have abdicated, the Queen died and saddled his young child with the job?
I think perhaps the late Queen with her faith and loyalty has given us a false impression of how monarchs generally behave. Usually they are adulterers with plenty of illegitimate children, who were then given estates and titles and a job fighting the Kings wars somewhere.
I think if you accept the concept of hereditary monarchy, then you just have to accept you get good and bad ones. We’ve recently had a good one, and there’s still time for Charles to repent and become a good King. William and Kate look like model citizens, but they don’t appear to have a Christian faith, and of course we don’t know what, if any, skeletons they have in the closet?
The Queen didn’t die until last year! He couldn’t abdicate before as he hadn’t become King – but in my view he should have handed it on. He wants an activist monarch (and he’s 74!)….. I’m not a monarchist….so the rest doesn’t really matter to me. I just thought the service was a supreme example of hypocrisy – on many sides!
He could have renounced his line in the succession then.
I don’t disagree about the hypocrisy, I just think it’s inevitable with a hereditary monarchy entwined with an established church. Personally I think swallowing the hypocrisy has served the country well over the centuries, but i’m not sure it can hold now the country at large has abandoned Christianity.
The solutions are to either abolish the monarchy (unlikely) or make it a secular institution with secular coronations and so on, at which point, what interest I have in it would be gone.
As a father of three young children myself, I can’t imagine William would want to take on the responsibility of king at this moment in time. Charles, given his age, isn’t likely to be around for long.
I suspect that the huge amount of respect and goodwill the British population largely had for Queen Elizabeth will not automatically transfer to her son. Or if it does, it won’t last for long.

There is the judgement of rejection … “scorn … let them be dammed” … and the judgement of compassion … “wanting to save that which is lost … wanting to restore … wanting to go into the world and preach the Gospel” Please re-read my first post on the Coronation. 🙏❤️✝️
So which judgement are you making here? You seem to be reading a lot into the original post and making a judgement (of rejection/compassion?). The world is lost. The world is condemned. Whoever does not believe is condemned already – as Jesus said. However he came to save the lost. But you don’t save the lost by telling them that they are not lost!

Thankyou David, I didnt watch the whole Coronatiin…only a few parts of it….to be honest its painful to watch . Listening to your comments about the Coronation are very helpful to understand more deeply about it. I am reminded of the scripture…..When you make a vow to God, do not delay in fulfilling it. He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill your vow. Ecclesiastes 5, 4. The spectacle of King Charles making lots of vow before God is very serious. Somebody who doesnt believe the Bible need to be very wary about what they say to God….but its not just King Charles, it’s the CofE too! How sad….its perhaps why I didnt want to watch. For me the funeral of Queen Elizabeth was a remarkable event, It was a pleasure to watch and remembering her life, as she was a person who took her vows before God very seriously. And lived out her faith in God and wasn’t ashamed to speak of her faith in Jesus Christ. Now she has gone…..whatever King Charles will make of his reign I have no idea……but at least we can pray God save the King….from himself.

Thanks Stuart. I think you will find that there were many who did not like the Coronation sermon and many who did… nothing to do with being LGBT, Woke or Sexism….! Not quite sure how it connects with the Voice…but I’m sure you had your reasons for thinking so!
