For those who asked here are the plans for my last Sundays in St Peters and our last month in Scotland (DV for a wee while!)…
Today (the 26th) – Preaching at both services on Romans 14 and 15. Communion in the morning.
2nd of June – Preaching in the morning on Romans 15 and baptising our grandson, Lewis Robertson.
9th of June – Farewell Sunday with a number of ‘family events’. Preaching morning and evening on Romans 16. Sunday School prizegiving in the morning.
You are welcome at any of these. We are having a different kind of farewell next Saturday evening – It’s a kind of ‘Parkinson’ style interview show with music….and chat and refreshments – I hope it will be a good event for Christians and non-Christians.

Ministers Monday Message
I was sorry not to be with you yesterday – we were in the Netherlands saying farewell to some dear friends who are in their 80’s and who have for decades been an example of joyful Christian living. We have so much to learn from our older people in St Peters as well!
Although we were unable to be present word has already reached us on the grapevine – that you had a great day with Joe Barnard bringing God’s word with clarity and power. We thank God for his grace and mercy. Your brothers and sisters in the Netherlands were remembering you.
Please keep in mind the General Assembly of the Free Church as it meets this week. I am a ‘commissioner’ and as this is likely to be my last Assembly, it will be an interesting occasion! For those of you who are not sure what the Assembly is – let me briefly explain. Each Free Church is governed by a Kirk Session that consists of elders. Each congregation belongs to a Presbytery (a group of congregations). Each year one third of the ministers in the church, together with an equal number of elders, meet in ‘general Assembly’ to appoint committees, discuss general policy and deal with any difficult cases of discipline. Sometimes to be honest the Assembly can be dreadful – boring, pedantic and legalistic. But other times it can be stimulating, challenging, encouraging and even Spirit filled. Please pray that this Assembly would be the latter.
Meanwhile I look forward to seeing you all this coming Sunday as we continue to look at Romans and celebrate communion in the morning. If anyone wants to become a member, please get in touch with me ASAP…

I was moved when I heard these words during the singing of the last song in the evening service:

I feel I am going downhill physically very fast but it is reassuring to know that my relationship with the Lord is everlasting.
Joe Barnard’s talk in the evening service hit home to me as well. I recommend it to all.
