Songs for Sunday 20 – Psalm 52

Psalm 52 is an imprecatory psalm – could we ever sing it? The St Peters congregation did – and on the weekend when Roe v. Wade has been overturned it seems particularly appropriate – as I explain here.

  1. Thank you for the Psalm and your comments, good way to start the day. 5.30am a stunning highland morning .

  2. Is abortion ‘a black and white’ issue? A ‘black and white’ image-NHS website’s ‘dating scan’-makes it look so. Pascal said: ‘In faith there is enough light for those who want to believe and enough shadows to blind those who don’t’. Do the light and shadows, on the NHS ultrasound, reveal the brutal and ugly truth about abortion? Ultrasound, dating to the 1950’s or 1960’s, is not cutting edge or especially new technology. Take a look at some of the MRI images on Endowment for Human Development website, where the humanity of the unborn is obvious at much earlier stages. I guess all of us, from Putin to the Pope, are really just ‘a bunch of cells’………

  3. Is Black American society where abortion features (per capita ) more frequently than in the White version , the woman’s “right to choose” is largely approved .

I wonder , though, if the man’s “right to choose” incorporates approval of the all – too – common departure and financial abandonment of his offspring .

Neither partner wants the baby but at least the man did not purposely terminate a life.
