You appear to take some comfort from the assertion that AI does not have wisdom. What is the big deal about wisdom? Does not 1 Corinthians 3:19 put wisdom in its place. I would suggest that it also warns us that all intelligence is artificial. I suspect that the energy and water consumption projections in respect of AI will prove to be as reliable as the predictions, in the early 2000s, regarding an ice free Arctic in the summer. B Duncan Moench is correct to state that AI is a tool. In itself it is not dangerous. The danger comes from what people will use it for. Again we have been well warned , in Jeremiah 17 : 9, about where the real danger lies.
What’s the big deal about wisdom? It’s the essence of the universe. Christ is wisdom (see Colossians 2 and Proverbs 8). All intelligence is not artificial. The Logos is not artificial. 1 Corinthians 3:19 is about the wisdom of this age.
The energy and water figures I quoted were the real current ones – not the projected. The projections are only just extrapolating from that. AI is hugely expensive in terms of water and energy. Strange how the climate doesn’t matter so much when money and profits of Big Tech are involved!
Fascinating territory! Just googling some people on AI is interesting. The speed and essential accuracy are stunning. But we have real personhood, and also contrived projections of personhood.
