  1. Donnie Foot objects to the line “The wrath of God was satisfied” in the hymn, “Christ Alone”. He says his justice was satisfied (as per the catechism etc.) but satisfying his wrath “conjures up , all too easily, the image of a parent who has lost his temper.” What think ye?

    1. If he wrote that he was exaggerating and implictly condemning the Bible which mentions the wrath of God many times! Nahum 1:2, Exodus 22:24, Matthew 3:7, John3:36, Romans 3, 1 Thessalonians 1:10…..I don’t believe that he would condemn the prophets, Jesus or Paul as being wrong in speaking about the wrath of God. If they could why shouldn’t the hymn writers?

  2. Well, he doesn’t exactly deny the wrath of God. I forwarded to Facebook what he wrote. I seems to be he’s making a distinction without a difference.

    1. The problem is that makes the worst possible interpretation of the songwriters….Townend and Getty both know that the wrath of God is based on the justice of God. Donald occasionally got a bee in his bonnet and said things that were exagerrated or somewhat unfair. Of course speaking of the wrath of God can be seen as presenting a petulant and moody God….but then most biblical doctrines are upen to such misunderstandings. His justification in terms of the creeds is just silly and self defeating…There are lots of things the creeds don’t mention….the Apostles creed for example does not mention the justice of God, nor it could be argued does the Nicene….

      1. Apostles Creed: ‘from there he will come to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end’…??
