Quantum 77 – The One with Taiwan, North Korea, Sheffield Students, Scruton, Neil Peart, Carla Lockhart, Sinclair Ferguson, Doug Murray, and The Kings Singers

This weeks Quantum has some great clips…and the most beautiful piece of music I have heard in years –

This weeks Quantum looks at the important election in Taiwan;  persecution of Christians in North Korea, Kenya, India, Myanmar and China;

We then move on to the surreal story of students in Sheffield being paid to spy on and correct their fellow students conversations.

And then this helpful video on the hypocrisy of the Transgender ideology.

The attack on women continues….now the word ‘woman’ has been removed from a Birmingham gynaecological health charity

And Pink News celebrates Pakistan providing Trans surgerywhilst ignoring the fact that this is because they are anti-homosexual.

We also look at the death of Roger Scruton.  If there is one video you should watch this month – this is the one…astounding…

We also remember Neil Peart…

And salute a wonderful new MP!  Carla Lockhart.

There are some sound words of advice from Sinclair Fergusonon the Bushfires.

And this is the documentary we mention about the flooding in Fishlake…

Doug Murray’s thoughts on Australia are fascinating…

Finally this piece of music moved me – if this don’t move you – you ain’t got no soul…or you ain’t Scottish (which amounts to the same thing!).

Quote from Roger Scruton

“During this year much was taken from me — my reputation, my standing as a public intellectual, my position in the Conservative movement, my peace of mind, my health. But much more was given back: by Douglas Murray’s generous defence, by the friends who rallied behind him, by the rheumatologist who saved my life and by the doctor to whose care I am now entrusted. Falling to the bottom in my own country, I have been raised to the top elsewhere, and looking back over the sequence of events I can only be glad that I have lived long enough to see this happen. Coming close to death you begin to know what life means, and what it means is gratitude.”

It was great to see that for some reason last weeks Quantum is our most downloaded for a long time…you can hear it here.

  1. I hope you’re right about us Aussies still having more common sense. I can’t see it, but then I have only lived in this country.
But it’s not just the academic and media establishments that are manically liberal progressive as you describe it. It’s also in the board rooms or top management of large corporations, such as Qantas, Telstra, the AFL, Rugby Australia, and my employer. And these companies have the power to silence employees who disagree, and are willing to use their money to promote these regressive views both to their staff and to the public.

  2. 1 Beauty.
    Prof Stuart Burgess (Bristol Uni), has written about beauty in nature, in particular peacocks and bird song;
Here is an article on the “Added beauty” of the peacock, pointing to a Designer God: It is fascinating in deatail:

    2 Douglas Murray: National identity.
2.1 Here is an article on a book which chimes with with Murray’s observations relating to Australians:

2.2 I found it fascinating that a number of people of colour either in Birmingham or Bradford (can’t recall which) were asked in relation to the Sussexs leaving Britain , whether the UkKwas racist. Definitely not, was the robust, cumulative, reply from the people in the streets, who were asked. It’s a great place to live was the unanimous verdict. I think one of them said it was one of the best in the world, to be raised. They were definitely “somewheres To me, it seems that the reporter didn’t get the responce they were looking for!
2.3 Slightly on a tangent, in the wonderful interview/ discussion on Murray’s, Madness of Crowds book on Premier Radio, the final, personal, word from Esther O’Reilly to Murray was the citation of this:
“We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.
    Through the unknown, remembered gate
When the last of earth left to discover
Is that which was the beginning;”

    TS Eliot, Four Quartets

  3. Re abortion. I watch the Daily Politics and today they briefly discussed a comment someone had dug up in which Rebecca Long-Bailey had said she thought it was wrong, on the grounds of unjust treatment of the disabled, that there was no age limit on abortion on the grounds of disability. This is considered highly controversial – lets just pause and think about that for a minute!!! – and the Momentum representative on the panel was all up in arms because RLB had been “smeared” with the accusation of being pro-life!! May God have mercy on the UK.

  4. Very interesting full page advert in (Glasgow) Herald of 17/01/2020. Headline is “PRESS Pause on the Gender Recognition Bill”. Extremely interesting that it was submitted and paid for by the LGB Alliance Scotland. Lots to it but key is this paragraph ” This is a bad law being pushed through in haste. It is a law that could be exploited by predatory men who wish to hurt women and girls.” LGB Alliance go on to state “Some lobby groups claim that lesbians and gay men support these changes. We don’t. These changes will undermine our rights.” Keep praying Scotland.

  5. The Sheffield Students post is interesting , inter alia , for the presence of a Tamil female student from Malaysia who whines about Racism without even mentioning how splendid race relations are in her country of birth, Malaysia.

In Malaysian universities , students are not permitted to involve themselves in national politics .

Also, there is an old Malay question which goes ” If you are in the jungle and you see a snake and an Indian , which one do you kill first?”

  6. Well David , There is hope for you indeed when you find such inspiration and appreciation of John Cameron’s gaelic poem Chi mi na mo’r -bheanna , and I ‘ll even forgive your pronunciation . I am blessed indeed to look west every day and see the mountains so beloved by Cameron . Every mountain in creation possesses a beauty , and i need not remind a preacher of the word of the wondrous things that happened on mountains.

Cameron writes : Chi mi gun dail an ate san -d’ rugadh mi ( I’ll very soon see the place of my birth )
cuirear orm failte sa chanain a thuigeas mi ( I’ll be welcomed in the language I understand)
gheibh mi ann aoidh agus gradh nuar ruigeam ( I’ll be shown courtesy and love when I arrive)
nach reicinn tunnachan oir . ( that I would’t sell for tons of gold )

The Kings’s singers , if it’s the same group as I remember have been around since the sixties , and were always worth listening to. Like other groups they will have had changes of personnel yet still have the power to move us. Good to hear you on ” In the Market” with Janet Parshall . You are certainly a very busy man !

  7. I was fortunate enough to see the Kings’ Singers perform at the residence of the British Council Representative in Singapore . Delightful performance.

As an irrelevant aside, the BCR , a pompous state – schooled Welshman with a PhD , successfully lobbied his superiors in London for the upgrade of his title to “British Council Director”.
