Hi David, I love your podcast and look forward to it every week. You offer a positive message in a sea of depressing news and hypocritical woke nonsense.
But, I take exception with your offering of the Wolfe Tones as an apology for not playing the Irish national anthem in Irish. This band plays terrorist supporting songs with chants in support of the IRA. Whilst there are many who draw an inference that support for the Irish language is equivalent to support for Irish republicanism and therefore Irish republican “armed struggle” I don’t believe there should be such a link. That aside, I find the Wolfe Tones offensive for their open promotion of IRA terrorism and object to their inclusion in your otherwise wonderful podcast.

Hi David, Love the show and have become a regular listener over the past few years. I enjoy the stimulation of having current affairs queried intelligently, even when I don’t necessarily agree. I think however that you’re over reacting to the EU citrus marmalade thing: in Spanish we use the single word “mermelada” to refer to both what in English are called jam (non citric fruits) and marmalade (only citric fruits). Google tells me the word came into English from Portuguese – just round the corner from Seville, where our marmalade oranges come from. To the Spanish, it’s a curiosity that we have two words for what is all “mermelada” to them. So it may seem strange to you to have it called “citrus marmalade”, but it seems pretty logical to me – and I’m a marmalade freak!
With hindsight, Irish politics, Irish music and marmalade, it was never going to end well.
