Thanks for another great podcast David. You engage intelligently with today’s issues – a rare commodity nowadays!
I have to disagree. The thesis expounded by M r Laxley-Lennon has a number of weaknesses – not least relating to his hobby horse – external influences. Somewhat ironically to his position Christianity was brought to the UK by immigrants from Europe including the Romans. Additionally Christianity in the UK has a long history of rather dubious behaviour including the bloodshed of the Crusaders, the persecution of “witches” and the treatment of groups such as the Covenanters. I therefore think Mr Laxley-Lennon is pursuing a rather different agenda.
Similarly to you comments re Mr Watson. Anyone who advances hypotheses on the IQ of Africans and does not consider the multi cultural mix that constitutes the continent of Africa is on a very unstable foundation. Rev Robertson you cited as one of your heroes as St Augustin – an African native. Also what about the Ethiopians cited in the Bible? Are these people of lesser IQs than the rest of the world?
May I make the observation that I find your podcasts and interviews are rather too much of the world, rather than of the Word?
Iain – I am not sure what your point is re Tommy Robinson? Or indeed your citation of historical examples…you are aware that the Covenanters were Christian? You also seem unaware that just because someone is cited or discussed here – does not mean that I endorse all that they are saying or whatever their agenda is.
Similarly again I think you miss the point I was making about Watson. I was simply arguing that IF what he said was scientifically sustainable, why would people reject it? Someone being cited in the Bible doesn’t say anything about their IQ. Furthermore I do not share the same reverence you seem to have for IQ. If someone has a higher IQ than me that does not make them a better or a worse person. Watson also argued that Jews tend to have a higher IQ – if that were true then I as a Gentile, have no problem with it. So what?
You may make the observation that you find my podcasts and interviews ‘rather too much of the world, rather than of the Word’. Just as I would similarly make the observation that again you do not get the point. The podcast is intended to look at the world – from a Christian perspective. It is not a bible study. I produce videos every day which are bible studies I suggest you look at them….and if you are not interested in whats going on in the world then don’t listen to the podcast! And if I may also observe that it is hypocritical to write a comment about not having enough of the Word, without giving any of the Word. As someone once said ‘take the beam out of your own eye, before you take the speck out of your brothers’!
