In a special conversation, Aaron Brown sat down with pastor and cultural commentator David Robertson to reflect on what happened, who Kirk was, and how Christians can respond.
David shares:
- Why Kirk’s death is “culture-defining.”
- The troubling online reactions of hate and celebration.
- The danger of politicising tragedy.
- How believers can respond with truth and grace.

An examination of the evidence available does not show that Mr Kirk had any true Christian background. It is concerning that this element seems to have been picked up by the American politicians. Over the weekend we have another set of murders taking place – and remember – there are lots more daily – which don’t make the news – as mass gun deaths are a common fact of American life.
There is something fundamentally wrong with American life and politics and Mr Kirk contributed hugely to this.
I have no idea what a ‘true Christian background’ is. But if you mean he wasn’t really a Christian – what is your evidence? Apart from some US politicians who complain he wasn’t a CHristian because he didn’t accept same sex marriage. I assume you have some evidence – and that you wouldn’t just be repeating gossip?
I don’t know what you examined, but it could not have been Charile Kirk. I have watched many of his debates and pod casts. He quotes non stop from the bible and professes to being a Christian all of the time. He declares he follows Christ. How you arrived at your conclusion is completely beyond me.
What do you mean by “true Christian background”? Charlie Kirk was raised by God-fearing parents, he professed faith in Jesus Christ. He even communicated this to others in his debates (publicly available on line) where he said that Jesus Christ saved him. Kirk lived his life trusting in Christ and following Christ’s teaching in the bible. If a Christian isn’t a follower of Christ, then what – according to your definition – is a Christian? A ‘social justice’ warrior? Someone who gives to the poor? Someone who lives in a convent or monastery? Please support your claims with specific facts rather than just generalisations.
Wow Iain, I am astonished at your post. I did comment to you on the other Charlie Kirk post, not sure if you saw it? Did you even watch the memorial service? Jesus was preached, His blood was spoken of loud and clear to bring redemption. US heads of government were talking about Jesus. They reckon 100 million people watched it and heard the gospel. And you can only find fault and criticise a martyr. I am sorry but you and your ilk are the reason the church in the UK is so dead and religious. Pharisees alive and well it seems. You and your religious rigid and lifeless dogma are fading fast and the true life of the Spirit of God is coming, even to the UK. If you do not repent, you will be left behind, just as the pharisees were. Repent and return to your first love. I say this in love and truth and wanting the best for you.
He and they – definitely “flooded the zone”. You folks have your viewpoints and I have mine. We are entitled to these and as am I. We will see who is correct in the End Time – maybe none of us
I’m sorry Iain – you don’t get away with that. You made a number of very serious accusations against a Christian brother. You were asked to provide evidence. I would also ask you to repent…slander, lies and gossip are serious sins…
