  1. It;s worth knowing that the Belsen Trial of 1945 – like the later IMT – was carried out without rules of evidence. Much of the testimony thus has the lurid quality of propaganda. Many or most of the people we hanged there were probably innocent, at least of the charges against them. The first British trial at which the English law of evidence was used was the Manstein trial of 1948.

      1. I read the testimony about Irma Grese, who was hanged on 13 December 1945, from The Trial of Josef Kramer (“the Belsen Trial”), who was hanged on the same date. This is from the Royal Warrant in the book:
“The Court may take into consideration any oral statement or any document appearing on the face of it to be authentic, provided the statement of document appear to the Court to be of assistance in proving or disproving the charge, notwithstanding that such statement or document would not be admissible as evidence in proceedings before a Field General Court-Martial…” (page 649).
Colonel Backhouse notes for the prosecution that: “The Court have power to consider evidence, hearsay evidence, written evidence, statements… and so on, which would not normally be admissible in criminal cases.” (595)
This is also available online. It was the same at the IMT (see articles 19 and 21 of the Charter, also available online). Here’s some information about Kramer from Germar Rudolf’s recent Holocaust Encyclopedia (2024):

  2. On the antisemitic nurses: I’ve been absorbed in the broadcast and reporting as I live in the same city as the nurses. One thing that strikes me is how easily they were triggered. The Israeli was obviously delighted that he had found co-operative targets and he very wisely recognised that he his arrow had hit the bullseye. The video that has been circulated is edited (and the Israeli has released the unedited version to NSW Police), yet I cannot imagine that his editing has made the content any less that what it was.

A serious question: Does Islam teach self-control (as Christianity does, 1 Corinthians 9:24-27)?

Another angle is that the NSW Police have stated that they need critical evidence against the two nurses before they can proceed with charges – they, like the Australian Prime Minister, are paralysed with fear of an outbreak of Islamophobia.

  3. BLASPHEMY-is that what we see with so many clerical abusers and bullies? 2 Corinthians 13:1 or the similar Matthew 18 sentiments carry a core item on natural justice. Do John Smyth QC, Rev Jonathan Fletcher and Canon Mike Pilavachi cases show how 2-3 witnesses is nowhere near enough? Also, are elements of the latter inquiries into Pilavachi less than clear and transparent in some areas?

  4. Abuse, bullying and exploitation has been rife in the evangelical Anglican world. DARVO (deny-ttack-reverse-victim and offender) has done huge damage. Should Matthew Chapter 18 and 2 Cor 13:1 feature in more Church communications?

  5. Iona.wener commented on Spotify that the anthem in the podcast is not the correct official one. Not being a German speaker myself I’m not in a position to reliably work out what verse is being sung, but if it uses the first verse then that is not at all correct. Unfortunately the Spotify comment doesn’t copy paste… Iona posted a useful link about the anthem
    https://www.lingoda.com/blog/en/german-national-anthem/
Can it please be confirmed if the anthem used is the correct one or does actually include the forbidden verse that would cause offence as it is not used any more because of it’s nazi use?

The Spotify source for the anthem isn’t very enlightening: Universal band, RMG media Inc
Have they uploaded the wrong version of the anthem?
