  1. Interesting as always! Do evangelicals jump on ‘MakePovertyHistory’ and the like too quickly sometimes? The Venezuela tale (as referenced in the talk above) infers how moral and political problems are to the fore in poverty, not just wealthy westerners hoarding global resources. MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY is a 2005 pocket pamphlet by Rev Nicky Gumbel. I read it with enthusiasm years ago. But it now looks very lacklustre in terms of giving any real economic insight. Poverty alleviation, and resource preservation, depends on simpler lifestyles in the first instance.
Hope the abortion feature coming up looks at the rudiments of First Trimester development. Pity so few pastors go there……..

  2. Just listened, it is so cynical – the media, artistic elites, the business elites , the academic elites, professional politicians.
immediately afterwards I read a blog from Pete North (his father wrote the definitive book on the EU with Booker) and it struck him , as it struck me how numb we become to both the mundane evil and the extreme evil.
Maybe a quantum on how to become less comfortably numb?
