  1. An excellent summary and synopsis of the past week, as always David, and jusy a few observations from this week’s Quantum..!

USA is certainly heading down a road of ‘Self Destruction’ in many respects, and not too long before China is the No.1 economy in the world, which pretty much means it will then ‘Call the shots’..!

Really liked your take on South Korea, having just recently been travelling SE Asia and Australia, and the South Koreans really stood out as a ‘Can Do’ Country, unlike ‘Broken Britaln’ or ‘Sodden, and mostly miserable Scotland’ . They are very well educated, pleasant, friendly, have high EI or EQ levels, and I can see why they are way way ahead, with the likes of Doosan, Samsung, Hyundia and Kia.., and the Christian church is growing rapidly there, unlike the ongoing & inexorable decline here in UK..!

Australia also has a real ‘Can do’ attitude, which I found really refreshing, as compared to the UK.., and can’t quite rememeber the prophecy in the Bible of wealth moving from the west to the east, however it certainly appears to be the case now..! Much more to say, however need to sign off now..!

  2. ‘Panem et circenses’-so sad it’s raining for the Olympic opening extravaganza……..

  3. David, I look forward to your podcast every week for the Christian perspective you provide on global affairs. I was interested in your opinion on the Olympics in the most recent one which seems to have been vindicated already. However, there are also some opportunities for Christian witness, and hopeful developments to pray for. The following info was recently communicated to me:

The Olympic Games is a unique evangelistic opportunity and churches and missional organisations have been gearing up to take advantage of it. France is a secular nation but in the last ten years this has been changing. New churches are being planted and traditional churches are starting to come alive again. Pete Greig from 24/7 Prayer shared recently of 12,000 being baptised across France this Easter.

For the Olympics the French Bible Society has produced 200,000 copies of a special edition of the New Testament that volunteers will hand out during the Games. Around two thirds of the books are in French with the rest in English. They feature testimonies from Christian athletes including Australian high jumper and Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Nicola Olyslagers. The unique edition is titled More Precious Than Gold and is inspired by 1 Peter 1:7.

    1. Thanks Carol….yes it is an evangelistic opportunity – but it is not unique. There are many such opportunities. Yes – I do hear there is encouraging news coming out of France….may it be a beginning!
