  1. As far as I’m concerned we have got rid of one lot of corrupt liars, just to be replaced by the same wearing a different colour. I pray the Lord will not turn His back on us.

  2. The Miriam Cates story perhaps illustrates why the Lambeth 1:10 boundary matters so much. An alleged exorcism, to drive out demons, as seems to have been discovered following an examination (or inquiry) into the Matthew Dapper story is surely alarming. The plain terms of Lambeth 1:10 affirmed freedom and personal responsibility, leaving unmarried people (straight or gay) with a clear code of conduct to follow if they pursued leadership and/or ordination. People were historically taken at their word, and simply expected to honour it. Richard Coles is a clever and articulate self-publicist and writer. But might some of his communications on this topic perhaps be profoundly unhelpful? Do cases appear to exist where genuine celibates have been unfairly removed from ministry? Yet have other clerics in sexually active relationships outside marriage remained in Church employment? I deeply regret the shifting away from Lambeth 1:10 and lament the problems which are now going to inevitably follow.

  3. Hi David, Thanks for your great insights and passion for highlighting the issues we are facing as ‘The Church’. Just a couple of comments on the music you played in this episode – the baroque piece I think is by Rameau, a French composer. It sounded like you were trying to make him Russian, calling him ‘Raminov’ (sic). And, the last piece ‘Is He Worthy’ – a fantastic presentation and recording, but it’s a shame that the composer (Andrew Peterson – USA writer) was not acknowledged.
Great blessings on your ministry in Newie.
