Someone in a previous congregation decades ago had had a horribly abusive background. She decided to shoot herself and was sitting in a field with a gun when it occurred to her that people wouldn’t use the name of God as a swear word so regularly if he wasn’t real. It was a turning point and saved her life, hopefully her soul.
David I really enjoy your teaching. Do you think that one useful angle on not taking the Lords name in vain is to consider taking his name as calling oneself a CHRIST-ian and representing that name really badly? God bless you.
