  1. Is there public paradox in the UK with Paula Vennells? Let’s leave aside female ordination for a second for second. Vennels was ordained a C of E priest and reports mention her completion of an Oxford diploma. She also allegedly made the last three shortlist for Bishop of London, but was not successful. Did someone without a BA, BTh, MA or PhD in Theology come close to getting a senior C of E post? Perhaps there is too much reverence for secular symbols of power-money-status-career in the Church. I think Vennells was an NSM, so had possibly never done months or years of full time parochial duties. There may be a fascinating and overlooked story here.
