A couple of things. Firstly, I wonder if the following is just me or is it common to folk my age (76): As one ages one re-sees (is there such a term?) incidents that have marred ones life. Having a number of such I’ve found that I see them in terms of the failings / background of the agents of such hurts and can, now, let them go. I look at the immense, life-long blessings that I have received from the Lord against which such hurts loose their power and crumble. Secondly, just about the only things that could persuade me of a millenial argument is that it might give me just enough opportunity to get around apologising to those I’ve hurt!
One of the best talks on forgiveness I have ever heard was given by Joni Eareckson Tada in 2012. It’s still on You Tube – True Woman ’12 – Forgiving like you’ve been forgiven. One comment she made was very similar to yours David – ‘No one has offended you more than you have offended Jesus Christ’. I have to remind myself of that often.
