Philippians 2:5-11, Psalm 87 – Sermons and Songs from St Peters (and David Henderson)

Screenshot 2019-01-06 at 07.36.33Last Sunday morning we looked at Philippians 2:5-11 “Adopt the Attitude of Christ”.  We sang ; My Jesus (Shout to the Lord); King of Kings/Majesty; Ps119:1-8; Philippians 2:5-11 and When I Survey the Wonderous Cross

Melito of Sardis (2nd Century) – “ He that hung up the earth in space was himself hanged up; he that fixed the heavens was fixed with nails; he that bore up the earth was borne up on a tree; the Lord of all was subjected to ignominy in a naked body – God put to death. The King of Israel slain with Israel’s right hand!”

And in the evening for our final service of the year we had communion and looked at Psalm 87.  We sang: Be Thou My Vision; Glorious Things of You Are Spoken; Psalm 87 and Grace (City Alight).

Calvin – What a glorious distinction of the Church, that even those who held her in contempt shall come flocking to her from every quarter, and that those who desired to see her completely cut up and destroyed, shall consider it the highest honor to have a place among the number of her citizens, and to be accounted such!

A late Christmas bonus – each year a member of St Petes – Dave Henderson- produces a Christmas song – here is last years –

Christmas Services from St Peters – 2 Corinthians (David), Matthew 1 (Sinclair) and Luke 2 (Craig).
