Thank you, as always, for your Quantum, David. I look forward to my ‘Friday listen’ (even though it isn’t always on a Friday, but that doesn’t matter) to get a level-headed perspective on some of the fanaticism that exists in the UK media today, plus you bring topics to our attention that we wouldn’t otherwise know about, thereby broadening our thinking and faith in the God who made and sustains the universe. Glory be to Him for ever and ever.
Hi David,
Thank you for highlighting how sexual assault has risen in the western world over the past 20 years and this link to immigration.
Would you be able to comment or send via email the resources used to make the 2000 and 2023 comparisons?
Thank you,
Mary
Is there really a link? The research eg – Andersson Nystedt T, Herder T, Agardh A, Asamoah BO. No evidence, no problem? A critical interpretive synthesis of the vulnerabilities to and experiences of sexual violence among young migrants in Europe. Glob Health Action. 2024 Dec 31;17(1):2340114. doi: 10.1080/16549716.2024.2340114. Epub 2024 Apr 23. PMID: 38651216; PMCID: PMC11041515 – suggests that there is a lot more work to be done in this area before any conclusions can be drawn. This is a multifaceted issue with many complexities – eg in Poland it has been asserted that the low levels of rape recorded may in fact be due to under reporting and/or police attitudes.
Indeed the research shows that migrants themselves are exposed to high levels of sexual abuse in the countries they relocated through.
Given all the above it is very dangerous to baldy make assertions which could be easily be misinterpreted – remember the example of the paediatricians who were hounded because people confused them with paedophiles.
I agree we should not make assertions that can easily be misinterpreted….such as asserting that those who question whether it is wise to bring in millions of young men who have grown up in a different culture with a different sexual ethic into Europe – are somehow as thick as those thought that a paeditrician was a paedophile. Don’t make such assumptions. And don’t deflect from the lived reality of many communities. Ask Sweden how their policy has worked and why it is now one of the rape centres in Europe.
In answer to your question about Sweden being a rape centre – please have a look at –

Yes – its very easy on the Internet to quote mine date and articles (that we usually havn’t read). I did read these articles. They largely sound like special pleading. And they don’t change the fact that rape has gone up by 50% in Sweden and that 60% of rapes are from foreign born nationals. As we say in Scotland – ‘facts are chiels that winna ding’! Even when you try to remove those facts by calling them right wing!
