I too met Tony Campolo. I did an interview with him for radio in Glasgow. He was a great orator, but he spoke on behalf of Compassion that night and pushed the same agenda of child sponsorship. After more than 15 minutes it became really awkward. He was pushing too far for people to respond and did not stop until he got the number he wanted.
Shame he had done so much for the gospel but went astray with this agenda.
The Bible is the answer to “woke joke” Anglican Safeguarding! 2nd Corinthians 13:1 is the answer. Irish Catholicism inverted justice for decades when abusers were shifted and protected. But read the 4 pages of Chapter 5 in ‘Letters to a Broke Church’. Ian Elliott tells how removing Bishops who ignored 2 Corinthians 13:1 rapidly cleaned up foul practice and protected victims. The best way to safeguard Anglicans would be to demolish so-called “Anglican Safeguarding”, and return to the Bible.
