  1. Thank you David
Your 6th commandment catechism is spot on.
Sadly we do live in a culture of death which confuses many things.
The American system of criminal law is fraught with difficulty over degrees of murder categorisation. The State does have the right to bear the sword and the populace is denied the right to take the law into their own hands ( Vengeance is mine says the Lord).
I remember studying jurisprudence during the 1990’s, including the Black Acts which prevailed in England. For example the two men who were sentenced to death for spiking their masters horse. It is difficult even now to criticise the just result. Few people today would understand the importance of the master and servant relationship flowing richly from the Bible into the Common Law of England, or the Golden Thread of the Common Law.
So much has been trammelled underfoot by Parliament using it’s ultimate supremacy over the Courts to legislate in ways that either codify, curtail or abrogate the Common Law altogether. The cure of Utilitarianism is worse than the disease.
I listened to your courageous podcast on Abortion as well. Your analysis on that was spot on as well. I have considered the theology of these difficult topics you are grappling with over the years and it is enough to make me weep.
