Australia Books Evangelism Podcasts

A New Podcast, a Great Book and a Fascinating Journalist

Although I am continuing to work with City Bible Forum one day per week, especially with City Legal, most of my work is now with the Evangelism and New Churches organisation of the Sydney Anglican Diocese.   I have set up a new project called The ASK Project – which aims to help churches in their evangelism. How is it going?  Far too early to tell.   Covid lockdowns for the past few months have not helped – but things are beginning to move now.

This week we have started a new podcast called ‘The ASK Podcast”.  We are beginning with something that I think has great potential – we are taking 12 episodes to talk with Greg Sheridan about his new book –

I love this book even more than I loved his previous one!  God is Good for You – A Defence of Christianity in Troubled Times – Greg Sheridan

We have just put out the first episode as an introduction.  Basically, Greg and I discuss why he wrote the book, his Christianity, job and lots of other fascinating things.  Greg is one of Australia’s finest and most influential journalists – it is wonderful having the opportunity to discuss with him.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.   This podcast is for both Christians and non-Christians – feel free to let me know if you have any questions you want me to ask.

The link to the first one is here (we have applied to put it on Itunes and Spotify as well as Podbean)…

Feel free to make any comments, constructive criticisms and suggestions…(email me ask.David@newchurches.org.au) – and also feel free to spread the word!

  1. Sheridan’s Christian message is so powerful and compelling that his wife still practices her Sikh faith as do this devout RC’s three sons.

Sheridan’s spouse and genetic future are not convinced .

They prefer to adhere to her ancestral , Hindu warrior – caste derived beliefs , which is a bit like being the CEO of McDonald’s Corp and dropping your nearest and dearest off at their favourite Burger King .

  2. Really enjoying this. The second episode on the crucifixion addresses indirectly one of my hangups, the intellectualisation (is that a word ?) of faith. Do I have to understand the doctrine of substitutionary atonement to be saved ? Did the thief on the cross ? Is it enough that I can truthfully repeat the Apostles Creed ? For those of us struggling with faith this is really helpful. Thanks David.

    1. Thats a great comment Robert….I think Greg is an example of someone who doesn’t grasp the depth fo the Cross (do any of us?) but who still has saving faith in Christ…

  3. Hi David, I heard you on Vision Christian Radio today. From 1 Cor it seems clear that the Lord has provided His Church with these Gifts for the whole of the Church Age.. all are current and needful. 1 Cor 12:28 “And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues.” I agee, there cannot be any more Holy Scripture. Kind regards, Mike, Launceston. Tasmania
