Ministers Monday Message:

There were two particularly encouraging comments yesterday that caused me to reflect and be thankful. One was from someone who has been in many churches and expressed thankfulness for the love and kindness they experienced here. Another was from an older Christian who has also been round the block – and who expressed appreciation for the teaching of God’s word.

As last night we were looking at the nature of the church as the Body of Christ and the use of the gifts of the Holy Spirit within, I thought those two comments kind of summed up the foundation. Gods Word, Love and Prayer are surely the essentials within any church. I am absolutely certain that we both have a long way to go, and yet we also have a lot to be thankful for. I don’t think a Sunday goes by but that I am grateful for the fellowship of the Lord’s people in St Peters and the opportunity both to teach and be taught.

Speaking of which this Wednesday we have our monthly eat together at 6:30pm, and then the collective prayer at 7:30. On Friday there is the tea and cakes. On Sunday we will continue to look at Romans both morning and evening –in the morning we have Evie Millburn’s baptism and we look at the rest of Romans 12 and especially how we overcome evil with love. In the evening Romans 13:1-7 answers the thorny and ever relevant question of the relationship between God, the Church, the Bible and the State….

I look forward to seeing you then, if not before. Let us be faithful in prayer for one another,

Yours in Christ

David

Four years ago Anna Murdoch, one of the children in the congregation came round with her dad and planted an apple tree for us.  It has grown and produces lovely apples.  Cast your bread on the waters (sow your seed) and after many years it will return to you….Have a great Lord’s Day

  1. What a rarity for a church today to have a large number of children in the congregation!
Blessed is the [church] whose quiver is full of them. (Psalm 127:5)
